This doesn't take place any specific time besides definitely taking place after the scene that starts with page ten of Babeocracy.
I used to make a lot of jokes about the attitudes surrounding certain fandom terms and concepts (as one can tell just by reading this comic). Running into real people who call real gay relationships "yaoi" kind of made me find it a lot less funny.
Also: It is really hecking rude to ask gay couples who tops, just saying. You may have noticed my own jokes about the topic pretty much never went there.
There are some people who would try to hold Lette accountable for some kind of hypocrisy here? Like "Oh NOW you find it offensive because it's about people YOU know," but honestly? Sometimes that's the first time something being bad really strikes a person. I can't judge people for changing their minds specifically because of someone they care about.
...I save my anger for when something involves someone they care about and they DON'T change their mind.
A note: I know usually I do a 9/11 post? There has been enough nationalist feeling surrounding things like Patriot Day that I felt like doing one this year would send an incorrect message. My thoughts are certainly always going to be with the families and survivors, and I am disgusted that some people use their tragedy as a way to inflict more. As such instead you get a comic about Lette burning her shirts.
