Not to put too fine a point on it
Five times, I've managed to keep myself from randomly resurrecting Red, Blue, Green and Whitey's dad. Five times is what it took for me to make peace with the fact that he really wouldn't add anything to the story, and I was just considering doing it because I'm a big softy and the fact that Blue has an unreconciled relationship with his father depresses me.
But sometimes angst is a good thing.
As for Synn, I've essentially decided that killing him would be TOO depressing, and therefore I'm not doing it. It felt like killing him would just be mean to the readers, like writers who kill off kittens for shock value. Doing anything for shock value tends to result in stupid.
As for Clarence being "easy" to kill? Well, his death is an important point in Synn's history, so there's no way he was getting out of that one. XD
